Seems like doomsday's come early this year...

Characters: Those searching for the life support terminals
Location: All around Luministi!
Time: During the quick-time event
Summary: Time to find those terminals, reset them (all at the same time, mind!) and fix this! ... But is it really going to be that easy?
Warnings: None (yet?)

Six terminals, six parties looking for them, and time is running out. ... Along with any breathable air.

Following Proctor's instructions (and unfortunately limited memory), everyone looking for the important life support terminals would have to begin searching. Though they don't know exactly where each one is hidden, they knew they'll be in locations that were important to those originally in charge of the town. So, with a few locations in mind, at least they aren't blindly wandering the town. The idea is to split up, to try to get to the terminals simultaneously.

Still, they'd have to act fast. As time passes, it gets just that much harder to breathe, after all.

((OoC: Feel free to use this post to log out your adventures in terminal-resetting. ♥ Prose or [action brackets], probably doesn't matter. Go, go, go!))

The second after he'd contacted Croix, Kon threw his caution to the wind (literally) and took to the skies to reach the Botanical Gardens. While it was true that he could survive on sunlight, he wasn't exactly sure if he could survive without oxygen. Clark'd never mentioned anything of the sort before - probably because he didn't have to - but Kon wasn't willing to risk his chances either.

Landing gently just before the entrance to the Gardens, Kon takes a look at it before furrowing his brow. Of course, give the massive place to the kid who can fly...

He sighs. "This'll be fun."

Unable to fly, Luke nonetheless employed his ability to ride a bicycle without crashing it - which some here believe he does not have - in order to make it to the gardens as fast as he could manage. He's achingly aware of how out of breath he is from the exertion.

Is this how it's going to feel if they fail?

Grabbing the strap of his bag to make sure it stays on his shoulder, Luke abandons his bike and walks through the "entrance" of the botanical gardens, looking around for anything that might be suspicious right away.

This place is so big.

Thankfully, they won't have the old palm house to search as a temple associated with Fuu now stands in its place. That said, it does leave them with an awful lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time...

Or does it?

They've been fortunate enough to be near the entrance that leads straight to the botanical gardens' gift shop and relaxation conservatory. Perhaps they'll have some luck there.

"Luke!"

Kon immediately rushes over to Luke's side. Looking somewhat sheepish, he starts walking beside him and offers a smile. "Think we should head to the conservatory or the gift shop first? I'd say the conservatory, since it seems further."

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-06-19 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you really think those are the best places? What we're looking for could be anywhere."

Although, with two of them, the choice might not be nearly as hard as he thinks.

"We might want to start at the beginning and work our way back. Then if we don't find anything, we'll be headed for the entrance while we check everything again."
tactilekonesis: (thinking about it)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2012-06-19 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, Kon wasn't too sure that the terminals could be hidden outside. It was pretty hard to keep tech inconspicuous when it was surrounded by trees; they would've spotted it in an instant.

"That makes sense," He agreed, slowing his pace down a little as he thought about it, but still walking towards the gift shop. "So the gift shop first then?"

He thought about checking out Fuu's temple, but the temple had been brought from wherever Fuu came from. If he went there, it'd be a pretty stupid move - and it'd waste precious time they didn't have.

Adjusting his bag on his shoulder, Luke nods, turning to face the direction of the gift shop. "That sounds all right to me."

He spares a few seconds to look up (and up and up) at his exploring partner, but does not smile. This is serious. Two quick breaths that he notices much more than he should care to, and he starts in the direction of the gift shop.

Once they reach the gift shop, Kon gives the area a quick glance-over before he enters through the door.

The store isn't big, but he starts browsing the shelves for anything unusual. "Look under the counter, maybe?" He suggests, floating just a little off the ground as he continues perusing the goods.
luke_triton: (surprised)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-06-19 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
It takes him a minute. He's got to stare at yet another flying person first. How do they do it? This one doesn't even have wings!

When he's done staring and remembers to close his mouth, Luke practically dives behind the sales counter, checking shelves and drawers and most especially the floor. There's a worn throw-carpet back there, presumably for the cashier to stand on; looking under there is so obvious it's probably not going to do anything.

He's checking anyway.

There is, of course, something out of the ordinary. When Luke goes behind the counter, a display case located between the two of them pops open, a soft glow soon emanating from it.
tactilekonesis: (not sure if want)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2012-06-19 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Holy crap. Kon wasn't sure what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn't... whatever this was. He stares at the display case for just a second longer than necessary before wandering over to inspect it.

"Uh, I think you should take a look at this."
luke_triton: (agape)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-06-19 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Huh?" Luke stands up, done fussing with the carpet as soon as he sees the glow. Propriety be darned at this point, he climbs up over the counter with just a little flailing and lands on the other side, half-falling forward at the display case.

"Whoa...maybe this is it."

When they do open the display case, they will find a terminal that's already switched itself on! The terminal is a foot wide and looks like it can be removed from its holder. The screen shows a field of stars, but soon turns light green with simple red letters that read:

"To access this terminal, your choice is a simple one: A or B.

"Answer correctly, and you may proceed.

"Answer incorrectly, and you may not live long enough to regret it.
"

Then two buttons appear onscreen, one with a bright A on it and a B on the other, and wait for one to be pressed.
tactilekonesis: (oh god no)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2012-06-19 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ohshi--- was this thing expecting him to figure out the right answer ASAP? Kon stares at the letters for a heck of a lot longer than necessary.

"Uh..."

Kon glances over at Luke expectantly. "What do you want to do?"
luke_triton: (handchin)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-06-19 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm."

Hmm.

That was about all he could manage. It certainly looked like there was a right choice and a wrong one. Were the colors significant? Bright red and pale green...none of those sounded like A or B to him. Green was rather gardenish, though, wasn't it? Like plants and nature. The red could be flowers or fruit then - oh, fruit, his stomach growls and he makes a face at his own hunger - but what if that isn't it?

What if they make the wrong choice and it leads to everyone slowly suffocating?

Luke swallows hard. Layton would trust him to make the right decision. He always did.

"I think...it ought to be B."
tactilekonesis: (not sure if want)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2012-06-19 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
If they chose incorrectly, then Luke might be injured and it would be Kon's fault... Instinctively, Kon hovered his hand over the button and swallowed his nervousness away.

"B it is, then," He said. "Hey, um... if this is incorrect, I want you to stay behind me, okay?" That way, if it blew up in their faces, at least only Kon would end up injured in the end (or at least he could keep the kid as safe as he could).

"And hold onto me, in case we need to fly away or something." Then, without any hesitation, he pressed the 'B' button.

The chosen button flashes for a few seconds, then the whole screen goes black as though it were thinking...

It's black for a good minute before another screen appears that reads:

"To reset food replicator systems, press when ready."

Then a single button appears, waiting to be pressed. It seems the terminal won't say whether the choice was right or wrong. But once the button is ready to be pressed, it will work without fail.

[ooc: To make things easier, we can assume Kon and Luke have waited for the other food replicator terminal to be found before they press it.]
luke_triton: (puzzle solving!)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-06-19 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Haha! Yeah, it worked!"

Never mind that he was holding his breath for almost that whole minute. He's forgotten all about that already, until the reading kicks in.

"Wait- Food systems? This isn't going to get the air back on?"
tactilekonesis: (totally sympathetic)

[personal profile] tactilekonesis 2012-06-19 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Doesn't seem like it."

That felt slightly disappointing. Kon kind of wanted to be responsible for the air, but something was better than nothing.

He stepped to the side in order to let Luke have a go at the button. "But look at it this way: even if we manage to keep the air systems on, it won't help us out unless we've got enough food to keep our systems running."
luke_triton: (downturned)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-06-19 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
So half of his worry gets to come back again. Great. At least they'll be able to eat for a little while.

Luke waits until the other button is located and uncovered before pressing the one in front of him. All the while thinking about breathing and how it's unusual to think so hard about breathing.
