That sound stirs her attention to the outside, and when Leaf enters, it's a surprise in that it's not someone else. At least in her opinion--either way it makes her tense a little less but not much more since they're already all in a precarious situation. One in which it's become clear someone out there is hoping for their deaths to come of it.
