grandbellknight: (we are not afraid)

Seems like doomsday's come early this year...

Characters: Those searching for the life support terminals
Location: All around Luministi!
Time: During the quick-time event
Summary: Time to find those terminals, reset them (all at the same time, mind!) and fix this! ... But is it really going to be that easy?
Warnings: None (yet?)

Six terminals, six parties looking for them, and time is running out. ... Along with any breathable air.

Following Proctor's instructions (and unfortunately limited memory), everyone looking for the important life support terminals would have to begin searching. Though they don't know exactly where each one is hidden, they knew they'll be in locations that were important to those originally in charge of the town. So, with a few locations in mind, at least they aren't blindly wandering the town. The idea is to split up, to try to get to the terminals simultaneously.

Still, they'd have to act fast. As time passes, it gets just that much harder to breathe, after all.

((OoC: Feel free to use this post to log out your adventures in terminal-resetting. ♥ Prose or [action brackets], probably doesn't matter. Go, go, go!))

Sadly, neither Willis nor Hawk will find anything out of the ordinary out around the White Rabbit. Nothing seems out of place.

Hawk nods, frowning a little. "It'd be a lot simpler," he agrees, "though that's probably why it isn't."

He looks the area over, just in case, and then looks back at Willis. "Let's try inside."

[Sophie's instincts are right on. When she looks underneath, she'll see that one of the booths looks like it's moved away from the wall--and a soft glow from beyond the crack can be seen a second later.]

[she spots that glow and grabs the booth near it, trying to push it farther from the wall to reveal more]

"Well, that was a bit fruitless. Maybe there was something we missed. We're in a place of justice, though, so it should be a bit more straightforward..." With that Terezi heads to the direction of the private office, walking right in, and wondering if it might be in the sheriff's bathroom. Anything is possible right?

The moment Mu arrives in the office, he might notice something odd under Resarci's old desk. It's subtle, but seeing as the floor is a slick white with no observable breaks in the surface, a thin black outline of what could be a square should stick out like a sore thumb.

The gardeners of the town would be grateful their work has been lovingly cared for! That is...if they ever come back into town.

But Kanaya is correct to move on to the fountain. It is quite beautiful and the water is pleasantly cool--but once she starts inspecting, she'll hear one of the water jets trickle away and turn off. In its place will be a bright red button, but does she dare push it?

Thankfully, they won't have the old palm house to search as a temple associated with Fuu now stands in its place. That said, it does leave them with an awful lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time...

Or does it?

They've been fortunate enough to be near the entrance that leads straight to the botanical gardens' gift shop and relaxation conservatory. Perhaps they'll have some luck there.

Bright red button, you say? Kanaya inspects it carefully for any labels. Surely, no one would leave such a pushable bright red button lying around without any markings if it were dangerous.

[after a few good pushes, the booth gives! And reveals...

[A terminal! The terminal is a foot wide and looks like it can be removed from its holder. The screen shows a field of stars, but soon turns black with simple white letters that read:]

To access this terminal, your choice is a simple one: A or B.

Answer correctly, and you may proceed.

Answer incorrectly, and you may not live long enough to regret it.

[Then two buttons appear onscreen, one with a bright A on it and a B on the other.]

Indeed, it did not go unnoticed.

"Doctor," Mu called. "There's something in here."

He padded over and crouched nearby, running his hands over the outline, feeling to see if it's a break in the surface, or if there are any cracks therein.

Thankfully, this button is not dangerous! And conveniently, it does have a small label that reads: "Push for terminal access".

Well then, it's hard to argue with that. Button, prepare to be pressed.

The Doctor sat bolt upright, narrowly missing smashing his head on the bed frame, and jumped to his feet. "Hold on, I'm coming!"

And so he arrived less than a minute later--thank goodness the clinic was much smaller than other hospitals and medical offices he's been in previously! His eyebrows shot up when he saw that outline. "Ohhhh, look at that. He would have it there, wouldn't he?" He crouched down on his side of the desk, peering under at Mu and the outline. "I think you can pry it up there."
luministimods: (Default)

[personal profile] luministimods 2012-06-18 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
But there was no need for prying of any kind since as soon as Mu began to feel around the outline, the panel began to rise up and soon slid away to reveal a terminal! It was a foot wide and looked like it could be removed from its holder. The screen lit up immediately and showed a field of stars, but soon turned black with simple white letters that read:

"To access this terminal, your choice is a simple one: A or B.

"Answer correctly, and you may proceed.

"Answer incorrectly, and you may not live long enough to regret it.
"

Then two buttons appeared onscreen, one with a bright A on it and a B on the other. Otherwise, the terminal seemed to be waiting for a decision.

"...Wonderful." Mu was clearly not impressed by this. He looked up at the Doctor, one hand tensed into a fist - the only sign that he was at all perturbed by this development. "Ideas?"

"Got it."

Willis steps inside, giving a quick survey of the area before shrugging.

"Why can't they just put a sign that says 'important switch here'? It'd make our lives a lot easier."

He looks back and forth at various parts of the room, considering, before stepping behind the bar and checking under the counter.

[personal profile] bit_impossible 2012-06-18 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
His features had drawn into a contemplative frown. "Well," he said thoughtfully, "we've only got two options. Both look pretty good, and I know which one I'd pick, but...I trust you to pick one." He offered Mu and encouraging smile.

The button is gladly pressed! And once it is, the entire fountain shuts down and the central statue splits and folds out to reveal a terminal! It is a foot wide and looks like it can be removed from its holder. The screen shows a field of stars, but soon turns yellow with simple blue letters that read:

"To access this terminal, your choice is a simple one: A or B.

"Answer correctly, and you may proceed.

"Answer incorrectly, and you may not live long enough to regret it.
"

Then two buttons appear onscreen, one with a bright A on it and a B on the other, both of them waiting for a decision to be made.

Flynn set his expression in a grim line as he looked up at the mayor's house. He hadn't been here lately, but as he had shared with Croix, he'd at least been inside it once since coming back to Luministi. He'd had a rather sore shoulder to prove it after trying to get into the space station side of things.

He started up the steps, then glanced down at his CAT. It wouldn't hurt to have another set of eyes looking for this thing, and he knew of one person at least who he hadn't heard run off for any of the other missions.

"Meru. Hey, Ms. Petite." He shook the CAT a little, like that would help. "I don't suppose you're busy? We've kind of got a crisis on our hands..."

[Sophie stares at the strange screen for a moment, frowning. but after an attempt to contact the Proctor fails to yield any useful information, she sighs and considers it for a moment more]

Perhaps...since they mentioned correct first...

[and she reaches out and presses the button marked "A"]

Oh dear sweet troll Jesus.

Is the terminal threatening her? Because that's what it sounds like. After lifting the terminal free and setting it on the edge of the fountain, she stares at her choices blandly. Maybe A and B are correct and incorrect in that order. Her hand hovers over choice A.

But wait, that feels too easy. It has to be reversed with A as incorrect and B as correct. It would be stupid to make A actually correct. Her hand drifts over toward B.

But what if it isn't? She'd be kicking herself over it as a dead troll. Maybe she should close her eyes and jam her hand all over the screen and save herself the headache. There's no logic to the choice either way, so she can hardly be blamed for picking wrongly. But she'd rather not accidentally die, too. Getting killed on some human satellite a universe away because she presses the wrong set of pixels when she should have picked the ones four inches to the left oh god this is stupid.

She presses the A button. Her name has like five of them, they can't be all that bad.

"Luke!"

Kon immediately rushes over to Luke's side. Looking somewhat sheepish, he starts walking beside him and offers a smile. "Think we should head to the conservatory or the gift shop first? I'd say the conservatory, since it seems further."

Meru had been lying melodramatically on her couch, wondering why in all of Endiness she was feeling so faint as of late. It just didn't make sense - she was an adventurer, a dancer! Expending energy was never an issue for her; she was practically [i]made[/i] of energy - she would never run out! So why, when she hadn't been exerting herself any more than usual, would she be feeling so darned dizzy!

She barely feels able to flail her arms like normal, but there's no stopping this young Wingly! She jumps up and flails her arms around, frustrated at this strange, sudden occurrence. That's when her CAT started buzzing at her and suddenly Flynn, the other guy from a kingdom, pops up in her living room - addressing her directly.

"Wellllll, I guess I'm not TOO busy!" she twirls; trying to hide the strain it's causing her to act so perky for once. "What can I do to help ya, mister Grumpybear?"

Alas, such signs would be too easy, but fortunately, Willis is looking in just the right spot. The moment he steps behind the bar, there's a metallic "squeak" as one of the taps twists at an odd angle.

What will you do? Will you twist it? Or will you just chock it up to coincidence?
